Spring is here! If your household is like mine, you are focused on cleaning and reorganizing to usher in this new season. Your home can be both fragrant and nontoxic. I've been using this DIY air freshener for years. It is easy to make and customize to your liking. I have a different scent for every level of my home. Here is a simple recipe you can try:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol or witch hazel
- 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oil(s) - I personally love rosemary and lemon for the kitchen
- Spray bottle
Instructions:
- Combine the water and rubbing alcohol in the spray bottle. The rubbing alcohol helps to preserve the scent of the essential oils and also helps the mixture to evaporate more quickly.
- Add 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oil or combination of oils. You can choose from a variety of essential oils such as lavender, lemon, peppermint, or eucalyptus, depending on the scent you prefer.
- Close the spray bottle and shake well to mix all the ingredients together.
- Your DIY organic air freshener is ready to use! Simply spray it around your home as needed to freshen up the air and create a lovely aroma.
Tips:
- You can adjust the amount of essential oils you use depending on how strong you want the scent to be. Start with 10 drops and add more if needed.
- Be sure to choose high-quality, organic essential oils to ensure that your air freshener is truly natural and free from synthetic fragrances.
